Chamomile Tea– An oasis of calm and tranquility

Chamomile

/ˈkaməmʌɪl/ KAM-ə-myl or KAM-ə-meel

Chamomile or Babune ka Phal, is an aromatic flower belonging to the daisy family.

Chamomile flowers are brewed in water to lend it the flavor and goodness of the flowers – we call it as Chamomile Tea. Rich in Chamazulene compound, chamomile tea is enriched with anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and analgesic properties. It is a great healing ageing Unlike the usual tea varieties, chamomile tea doesn’t contain caffeine and is a powerful herbal drink to soothe the senses.

The floral fragrance and its healing properties is great for a stress-buster and relaxing experience. Tending to stress, healthy sleeping patterns, balancing hormones and detoxifying the body – Chamomile Tea is loaded with health and skin benefits. Some of them include
  • Treats insomnia
  • Develops healthy sleeping patterns
  • Boosts immunity
  • Soothes muscle spasms and pain during menstrual periods
  • Treats cold
  • Soothes muscles and calms pain
  • Cures stomach ache
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Acne reduction
  • Anti-ageing properties

While the market is loaded with quite a lot of varieties, here are some of my favourite and recommended chamomile tea variants!
Goodwyn Chamomile Tea

One of the first Chamomile Teas that i tried. It has a subtle sweetness and endearing flavour. The aroma is beautiful. Definitely something that calms the senses and gives soothe to the muscles.

Mushroom Spinach Toasts for a healthy breakfast! #Recipe

It’s not very long that I have started loving mushrooms for its oozing flavours. About of couple of years back I tried on a mushroom sandwich and completely loved the flavours. At first it was just about that particular sandwich being repeated again and again as a snack – but slowly the mushrooms in it were given a try in several other dishes and that is where the love started growing.

The Perfect Sandwich experience at SanDoitchi, Powai (MUMBAI) #RestaurantReview

Sandwiches are love! I repeat this mantra again and again!

Given the times that I indulge into eating subs, sandwiches, or even simple club sandwiches in my daily routine I am difficult to impress when it comes for any food joint to play their sandwich-card! Therefore when I was invited at Sandoitchi for the tasting session – I was sure I am going to be critically examining the taste of doitchi they have to offer!

#BOOKREVIEW: A House for Mr. Misra by Jaishree Misra - Interesting tale!

A House for Mr. Misra by Jaisree Misra
Publisher: Westland Books
ISBN: 978-93-86850-48-5
Genre: Non-Fiction
Pages: 199
Rating: 3.5/5

Intriguing visual descriptions, excellent write-up and a tale that somehow revolves around all our lives!

I picked this book with much delight one, because this book had all the qualities of being a fiction but is a non-fiction and two, because buying a house is everyone’s list – be it big or small. I haven’t read any of Jaishree Misra’s works but having known that the author has written some of the finest works – this copy just came by!

The book has been weaved with a very settling tone finding a couple beautifully set into a London life with their jobs and life in place until everything changes and they leave everything altogether to buy a house in Kerala. Known as God’s own country and famous for its tourist footfall, the book brings out the unknown and unseen tales of the place, even the darker sides which no one talks about.

The story of building your own house is definitely loaded with a lot of mind games, relative pressures, impulsive decisions and dealing with a lot of issues which makes living in the place worthwhile. The book has brought out all the ingenuity of the neighbours, deal with the seller, cranky maids, suicidal snakes and more. After all thinking of building a house where the waves touch your boundary isn’t an easy task!

The local scenario, life of the people of Kerala, the general temperament, style of living is brought across beautifully. You can feel like you have been to Kerala and spent days here to know how people think and work here. Making for a good non-fiction read, the book is like a explanatory autobiographical tale of how the author built a house in the Coastal Regulation Zone.

Turning through the pages of the book I came through a lot of well written sentences which made me re-read them because of the precision of thoughts they conveyed. I loved the fast read but also wanted a lot of details into the subject. At some places I thought the scenes could have been more detailed or I deserved a little more explanation to the scenario – but overall the book was sticking to the title put on.

It’s a light read with simple situations that build up interest and gives a pleasing end!
