Black Pav Bhaji @ Maruti Pav Bhaji #RestaurantReview

Pav Bhaji ~ God’s own food!

One simply cannot miss out on Pav Bhaji once they are in Mumbai. Every traveler when in Mumbai at least once “googles” about the famous Pav Bhaji joints in Mumbai and tries to catch up on at least one! Ours was the same case too!
We wanted to explore the oldest and the most famous Pav Bhaji in Mumbai and taste heaven there!

If there is Garlic bread to Spain and Burgers to America, there is definitely the classic Pav Bhaji Plate to India! We love Pav Bhaji, adore Pav Bhai and can completely tell how one plate is different from another. And Mumbai happens to be storing all the love of Indian Pav Bhaji in almost every corner of it. Go to Juhu Chowpatty or the Town you will definitely find some famous Pav Bhaji seller of the area that bets his is the best! We don’t know about the best but the one we tasted was really good.

Here is a twist to the regular Pav Bhaji, this one is Black in colour and is famous for its texture – seems weird right? Well it sounded to me too but I gave in! And I would recommend you should try it too because it won the cards.

Concept: Maruti Pav Bhaji is like an old Pav Bhaji stall hosting a lot of other dishes too but happens to be an ace maker of Pav Bhaji. The place has seen the test of time and is still going strong with people always keeping the place crowded. Although we went in the late hours of night we could still spot a few families out for dinner or may be late night munching!

Ambiance: It’s a street food selling right next to the street. There are a few plastic chairs and tables arranged for seating but you will find it taken already. We got our seats and had a quite good time. Don’t expect any restaurant feel! The fun of having Pav Bhaji is right how they serve it.

Food: We ordered two plates of Pav Bhaji and also a Masala Papad. The Pav Bhaji was very spicy, black textured storing a burst of flavors which lived upto the fame of Pav Bhaji. I was vary about the texture and wondered what must have gone into the making of it (God knows or knows the owner of the stall) but I just felt the colour came because of certain masala that is identifiable with a differentiated taste of it. Yes, their Pav Bhaji is VERY different from any Pav Bhaji you might have had so far.

Drinks: Chhaas, Cold drink or some fruits shakes they have it all.

MyPlateReview Recommends: Try their Black Pav Bhaji and also Masala Pav which happens to be their star item, which is one of its kind here. And if you do try them out, then let me know how it was!

MyPlateReview Rating: 4/5

Price: Pocket friendly! Has to be if its street food! They are quite cheap and taste heavenly. One Plate of Pav Bhaji costed us Rs. 70/- which is in good match with other street side Pav Bhaji stall’s prices.
