Poha : A breakfast turned into love

A spicy-soft plus crunchy-healthy breakfast is exactly what is shown in this picture above! Poha ~ one of the most famous snacks from Maharashtra is also a known snack-time favourite of people across India. Made from Chidwa (Rice puffs), poha makes for a quick solution to your hunger pangs.

As for me, i am a die-hard lover of food and at times, Poha is the only rescue for my hungry stomach. I love it as breakfast,  save it for lunch and even eat the rest for evening tea. :D

It is sad that Poha is not widely available at restaurants and even the roadside stalls which sell them are mostly in the states like Maharashtra, Some places in Bangalore, Some small counters in Delhi and may be only a rarity of dhabas in other cities. Happy thing is that, it is a quick make recipe for home cooking and can be prepared within as good as 20 minutes.

Want to try hands on this? Read below for my version of this delicacy!

Ingredients
Poha - 2 cups
Onion - 2 pieces (chopped)
Tomato - 2 pieces (chopped)
Capsicum - 1 piece (chopped)
Peas - 1/4 cup (boiled)
Coriander leaves(dhaniya patta) - handful
Pomegranate seeds - 10-15
Roastes peanuts - 10-15
Curry leaves - 20
Sarson seeds - 1/2 tsp or use raai
Green chilli - 1 piece chopped finely
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric(haldi) - 1/2 tsp
Black pepper - 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Sev bhujia and tomato ketchup to serve

Method
1. Properly clean the chidwa or poha and remove all the dust. Wash it thrice in water, and soak into the water for 2 mins by the clock and strain. Keep aside.

2. In a kadhai, heat oil and add sarson seeds and green chilly. Let the seeds pop and then add curry leaves.

3. When the curry leaves get fried a little, add onion and capsicum and fry till it changes its colour.

4. Now add tomato, salt and turmeric powder. After the tomato turns into pulp, add peas, red chilli powder and black pepper.

5. Cook for half a minute and then add the chidwa(soaked poha) into the kadhai and mix properly without breaking them.

6. Add roasted peanuts and pomegrante seeds and mix well.

7. Poha is ready to serve. Put it in a bowl or plate, sprinkle some sev bhujia on it and plce tomato ketchup on the side. Enjoy!

Do tell me about your experience and problems, if any.
