B.Y.O.B culture in India with JALSA Indian & Ladakhi Kitchen (Gurgaon) #RestaurantReview

Dining experiences with friends are always the best! Its an added bonus when your friends take you to places you have never been before.

With a number of calls exchanging our whereabouts and the plans to meet, I and my friend finally decided to meet at the Huda City Center and choose a place to eat something nice, gulp down a few drinks and have a great time. Therefore when I told him I wanted to go to a random drink place – It was the newly opened JALSA Indian & Ladakhi Kitchen he introduced me too!

The concept of this place is simple! It’s a B.Y.O.B place where the set-up is quite Tibetan with all the prayer flags, interiors and the aura that makes one feel like they are in a small café with a Tibetan theme. Open roof and a lot of wooden tables & chairs to gather around with friends. The music is quite up to date with the latest UK, US and Indian tracks!

B.Y.O.B ~ Bring Your Own Booze is a concept that is fast catching in India with more and more of restaurants coming up with their own style of celebrating the theme. The customers have to bring their own drinks to sit and have in this space while the food is provided by these restaurants from their menu. Therefore when you arrive with your own bottle of beer or whiskey they let you order Soda, water, glasses etc and make your own drink on your table. The snacks or dinner can be ordered from their special menu.

Food ~ JALSA Indian & Ladakhi Kitchen specializes in Indian cuisine both veg and non-veg plus a lot of Tibetan food is available for the taste enthusiasts. Therefore you shall find here a lot of optiosn from chilli paneer, Manchurian, pork chilli, Tibetan platter, Thukpa, Thentuk, Sha-Phaley, Momos, Kothay, etc. They have special Ladakhi dishes like Ladakhi Gyathuk, Yarkandi momos and more. With enormous range of noodles (hakka, pan fried, choupsuey, schezwan etc) you shall also have the option to order authentic soups.

Now the sole reason for me writing about this place is to talk about their momos and the effervescent chutney that was surprisingly so good – I cannot even! The fried momos here are a delight with just the right crispiness and the delicious filling – I would label it a MUST TRY! Also, the chutney is an amazing mix of Bhut Jholakia chilli chutney with a hint of hummus to give it a creamy yet spicy finish. Spicy as it is I could not stop but keep on munching for as long as the tongue burnt!
P.S. We actually started picking chutney with fork and relishing the taste!

If you are on a lookout for a simple place that lets you enjoy boozing at affordable rates and amazing food – this is the place to be! What better than getting the drinks at their MRP and drinking it without any fancy prices to be paid. Plus the aura is totally worth it.

Ladakhi Kitchen is on the third floor and stays open till about 1 a.m.!

Service: The staff is quite courteous and serves at the right time. They also help you decide what to order citing their best items on the menu. Our food arrived hot and delicious!

Plating: The plating is quite simple with routine serving style and that is quite good for a budget friendly place like this!

Price: Food pricing is average while the drinks remain your choice!

MyPlateReview Recommends: Highly recommending Ladakhi Kitchen to all the people who have to host a treat for their friends, need a good drinking zone or even want to enjoy something new!

  1. just to let you know that Jhalsa Ladakhi Kitchen is a fake copy of the renowned Wangchuk Ladakhi Kitchen which they have totally replicated from the yellow benches to the tibetan flags and the cuisine!! the only authentic tibetan and Ladakhi restaurants are the Ladakhi Kitchen at Supermart, Tibetan Kitchen at Rodeo Drive and Kai Chi cafe, Gwal Pahiri which is all by the same family which started Wangchuk's Ladakhi Kitchen..
