Product review: Patanjali Fruit Juices

Patanjali, the Ayurvedic Indian brand created by Baba Ramdev who is the pioneer in re-establishing the importance of Yoga in India, is almost everywhere and is giving a tough competition to Indian as well as International brands. One of the fastest growing FMCG companies which have its label ‘Made in Bharat’ is a household name.
And if you are from a middle class family like me, you know that our parents are the brand ambassadors of Patanjali. Trust me my mother has tried everything from atta to noodles to dish washer soaps and herbal products, as much as I use the Patanjali Kajal for myself now! And surely the natural and pure feeling that Patanjali gives is nowhere to be found now in other brands.

And so I thought to give a try on the food products Patanjali has to offer and bring things for you. The first thing I picked up is the Patanjali ready-to-drink juices (because hey! Its summers!), which have come to give a tough competition to the Real and Tropicana we fondly drink.

Patanjali fruit juices also come in different variants like Mango, Apple, Mix Fruit, Litchi and Guava and are almost priced in sync with other brands. I tried multiple tests which were compared to my experiences with the Real fruit juices.

Experience: I tried keeping the juice in the fridge after opening for almost 3 days and it did not get bad. Real juices tend to get a little sour after almost 2 days of opening the pack and keeping in fridge, unless you have the round cap pack which is safe. Also, you will love the sweet smell of juices which have natural feel to it, to be honest i have never found it with Tropicana or real fruit juices.

Taste: Patanjali fruit juices taste very natural and I liked almost the taste of all except the Mix Fruit which tasted like cough syrup (to me) . Although I do like the Mixed fruit flavor from Real fruit juices. You wont really feel the difference in taste with other brand juices except for Litchi. The litchi flavor of Patanjali Juices is very natural and sticks to the taste.

Nutritional factors: Well here is a point! The Nutritional chart of other juices state of having 8-10g of added sugar in every 100ml, and on the packs which were marketed in 2016 it used to show zero. But recently yhe Patanjali Nutritional chart it shows that they do add about 7-15g of sugar apart from the natural fruits sugae. So there is added sugar in Patanjali juices.
And while we read of the tag “No added preservatives” in most of the products we consume, Patanjali uses the words “No Preservatives Used”, which although may seem to be the same but is not. Where one states of not using more preservatives than stated, Patanjali claims of not having used it at all! However the presence of INS 330 and INS 300 comes to be a necesssary inclusion into the juices as without them the preserving of the juices become quite impossible for the tetra packs. So no complaints on that!

MyPlateReview Recommends: If you have a fan of canned or pack juices and need a little healthier version of them, you might just want to switch to Patanjali! The facts guiding me are, its desi, real, the sugar content took me in and also the taste is not different to not like it. Give it a try, you won’t really feel the difference in taste!
