Moong Dal Halwa in a Mug; Try the single serving Mug Meals with me! #Recipe #HOLI

Unison of friends, playing with colours, cherishing the time and creating memories!

Holi is synonymous to many happiness around us that we wait for this day! Along with the hours that go into playing with colours and finding the best of way to bond with our long lost friends, Holi is also time to indulge into some special eateries that are sspecially prepared in Indian homes.
One of the most routinely made sweet is the Moong Dal Ka Halwa which is also offered to the gods while praying on Holi. And thus we Indians wait for the halwa being cooked at home on this occasion.

There are times when you stay away from home or are craving for the Moong Daal Halwa but miss out on it because of inability to cook. Here is a simple recipe which is made easier and quicker for you to solve your cravings. The Daal Halwa in a Mug – so that you can cook a single serving, perfectly and indulge as many times round the year as you want! So go ahead and watch the video!

Ingredients:
5 tbsp moong dal (Soaked in water for an hour and grounded into a paste)
3 tbsp ghee
3 tbsp Khoya (Alternative: Avoid sugar and khoya and use AMUL Mithai Mate)
4 tbsp sugar syrup
1 crushed Elaichi
Almond slices to garnish

Method:

  • Take the moong dal paste in a mug and add ghee to it. Mix them well so that they don’t make lumps and cook evenly. Put it into the microwave at medium temperature for about 5 minutes while taking it out every minute to stir. (I used the 360 degree temperature according to my LG microwave setting).
  • After the daal will cook the fork will come out clean and it will give a good rise that shall make the cup full of it.
  • Now add khoya and give it a good mix. Again microwave it for 1 and a half minutes on medium heat.
  • Now add Sugar Syrup and Elaichi for the flavor and cook it for a minute on medium heat.
  • You can opt to ignore Khoya and sugar syrup and instead use the AMUL Mithai Mate or Nestle Milk made for similar effect and simpler ingredients.
  • You halwa is ready, Garnish and Serve!

Let me know if you enjoyed making the Halwa and how did it turn out!

  1. Such an adorable way of serving the halwa. Presenting food in best possible way is must, as it will attract the guest or customers of your home or restaurants.
